About the Brain Bee

The International Brain Bee (IBB) was founded in 1999 by Dr. Norbert Myslinski. It is a global neuroscience competition for middle and high school students, designed to spark interest in studying the human brain. The program encourages students to pursue careers in neuroscience, contributing to the treatment of neurological and psychological disorders, and improving human health and quality of life.

In 2013, the China Brain Bee Committee was officially authorized by the international organizers. The program is supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, University of Hong Kong, Zhejiang University, and the Youth Innovation and Challenge Program, with over 40 cities in China participating each year.

Outstanding students have gone on to be admitted to top universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Columbia University, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Northwestern University, Johns Hopkins University, Brown University, Notre Dame, Emory University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Wake Forest University, and UNC Chapel Hill, with many choosing neuroscience or related fields as their major.

Brain Bee Junior Full Program

About the Program:
Brain Bee Junior is designed for grades 5–8, introducing students to neuroscience fundamentals.

Although the Junior Division’s written exam is slightly shorter than the Senior Division, the depth of knowledge required is almost the same, so students must dedicate sufficient time to study.

In addition to the written exam, Junior students create and present a scientific poster, which develops skills in information gathering, synthesis, and presentation. Poster topics are only provided during the competition, so students need a solid foundation in neuroscience during preparation.

Course Outline (30 hours):
